Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is designed for children ages 4 and 5 who miss the kindergarten cutoff date or would benefit from additional time to strengthen the social, emotional, and academic skills needed for kindergarten success.
Our Transitional Kindergarten program provides a unique and enriching experience through developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning. Each day is thoughtfully planned to include individualized, small-group and whole-group instruction focused on early math, pre-reading and writing, language development, and fine motor skills.
TK students build on foundational pre-K writing skills, develop phonemic awareness through the Heggerty curriculum, and explore early math and literacy concepts through engaging, hands-on activities designed to foster confidence and curiosity.
Play remains an essential part of childhood development and learning. At Wentz’s, we incorporate play-based experiences that encourage creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and social growth. Our program also includes daily outdoor learning opportunities, giving children space to explore, discover and grow in ways that cannot be replicated indoors. Outdoor experiences help foster resilience, teamwork, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning while supporting the joy of childhood.
An additional year in Transitional Kindergarten helps ensure children are confident, capable, and well-prepared for the academic and social expectations of kindergarten and beyond.
